The city of Porto is known as the City "Invicta". It is the city that gave its name to Portugal - very early (c. 200 BC), when designated for Portus Cale, coming later to become the capital of Portucalense. If you want to go to Lisbon from OPorto you should take the opportunity to visit Aveiro and Coimbra.

It is still a city known worldwide for its wine, its bridges and ancient and contemporary architecture, its historical center, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. Porto is a fascinating and vibrant city that is rapidly becoming one of Western Europe’s most respected tourist destinations. The Douro region is famed for the production of Port, which is still stored and matured in the vast cellars that stretch along the banks of the Douro River. VISIT SAN FRANCISCO CHURCH

Palacio Queluz Sintra

On this city Tour Oporto We visite the Church of San Francisco. The Franciscans began work on the Igreja de São Francisco in 1245, but it was later reformed due to a fire which destroyed the old cloister and part of the church. The Church of São Francisco was built in the 14th century, during the reign of King D. Fernando, on the site of a modest church pertaining to the order of Franciscan Friars who had established a presence in the city of Oporto in 1223. The layout of the Church follows the rules of the mendicant Gothic style - with three naves, a prominent transept and a tripartite top section, with a main chapel inside. Several innovative elements were introduced, such as the decoration of balls in the window slits of the main chapel.

VISIT PORTO STOCK EXCHANGE PALACE

The Stock Exchange Palace, better known even to foreign visitors as Palacio da Bolsa, is one of the most valuable tourist sights of Porto. The construction works started in 1842, only to be completed some 30 years later, and the reason for building a venue of this kind was, at least as far as Porto was concerned at the time, to boast of its economic power and to draw the European businessmen to make investments in the city. In time, most of the traces which might have been reminiscent of the former functionality of Palacio da Bolsa (lecterns, podiums, desks, and benches) were removed, such that at present the venue, while seen from the inside, can easily be taken for aroyal palace.

VISIT OPORTO CENTRAL STATION

Originally OPorto Central Station was an interface railway, which serves the city of Porto, in Portugal, although he entered into service on November 7, 1896, until 5 October 1916. The São Bento Railway Station (Estação Ferroviária de Porto-São Bento), is one of Portugal's most striking railway stations. São Bento Railway Station in Porto was opened to the public in 1916 on the site of a former Benedictine monastery. The structure emanates the city’s typical melancholy and nostalgic air. Although the train station is striking from outside, the real beauty lies inside. The main hall is breathtaking with over 20,000 tiles that reflect the history of Portugal. São Bento Railway Station is in the city centre, so you’ll probably walk past it several times during your stay. Don’t miss discovering its main hall. You can take a train to the Douro Valley or to any of the picturesque villages in the region from São Bento station. If you have enough time, we recommend a day trip from Oporto to explore Guimarães and Braga and day trip from Oporto to Viana do Castelo.

VISIT CHURCH SANTA CLARA PORTO

The Church of Santa Clara in Oporto is a Catholic church located in the parish of the Cathedral Santa Clara Church A Rococo and Baroque Masterpiece. The façade is plain, but the interior of this 15th-century church was transformed into one of Portugal's most exceptional examples of woodwork and gilding in the 1600s. Even after seeing the even more over-the-top interior of São Francisco Church, this rococo and baroque masterpiece doesn't fail to impress.

VISIT PORT WINE CELLAR AND WINE TASTING

you canot finish this day tour without Visiting one of the famous port wine cellars with wine tasting port. When in Porto, a trip to the port wine cellars shouldn’t be missed. Learn about and sample this city’s eponymous tipple and soak up some of the history and tradition of the region. Merchants were already aging and storing Douro valley wines in vast warehouses or lodges along the banks of the Douro. From here, they could be easily shipped around Europe and beyond from Porto. The wines were shipped in casks marked Vinho do Porto or ‘Port Wine’; taking their name from the city from where they were shipped – despite the wine actually originating 80 kilometres inland in the Douro Valley. The name of Porto itself dates back to before the 4th Century BC when the Romans named their settlement on the northern banks of the Douro River Portus Cale (or ‘Port of Cale’ after its original Celtic name of Callaici).

VISIT LUIS I BRIDGE

The Luis I Bridge, is a bridge structure with two metal trays, built between 1881 and 1888, linking the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia (north shore and south, respectively) separated by the river Douro. You will have a wonderful panoramic view of the City of Port. Completed in 1886 by a student of Gustave Eiffel, the bridge’s top deck is now reserved for pedestrians, as well as one of the city’s metro lines; the lower deck bears regular traffic, as well as narrow walkways for those on foot. The views of the river and old town are stunning, as are the daredevils who leap from the lower level.

PASSING BY FOZ DOURO

The Foz do Douro Located in the Western Zone of Porto, Foz do Douro is a privileged place where the Douro River merges with the Atlantic Ocean. No one stays indifferent. Enjoy the fantastic scenery, embellished by the landscapes painted by terraces, bars and gardens by the sea. Come to visit the magic of Foz. In this magical place, the sunset on the horizon of the sea, the unmistakable smell of the sea and the color tones combine, creating a picture of rare beauty.
